Who are they?

Ilfracombe group

Photo taken in Ilfracombe, Devon, c. 1895. It was found behind one of Sir Henry Carew (Footprints in the Sand: The Story of the Carews of Devon 1186-1945 by Rivers Carew).
Can you help identify them? Do you recognise an ancestor?

Huguette F Zerbib / Huguette Chatterton

Huguette F Zerbib, author of Couscous with Tata Hannah, died on 14 April 2020.
Born in Algeria, her beautifully crafted book tells of a childhood in that, now vanished, world of Jewish life in North Africa. The marvellous storytelling is full of spirited observations, bringing the customs, and attitudes alive, through Huguette's unique voice.
Huguette was also a singer of songs from the golden age of French popular Chansons - Trenet, Brel, Aznavour, Piaf, Ferant and others. She gave annual concerts in Cambridge. There was a strong element of storytelling in the way she sang. She will be greatly missed by her family, the Cambridge Writers community, and her musical colleagues.
